What is Monopoly Run?

Monopoly Run is the activity of visiting all locations on a Monopoly board, in real life. Locations will be given using 3 words which translate into a grid section of the What3Words app. Teams will compete to visit the most locations and gain the most points on the board within the set time limit. Points are based on how hard to get to the locations are within a specific area.


What is What3Words?

What3Words is an app that places a grid over the map of an area. Each grid section has 3 words that define that specific area. During the event you will be given locations using this 3 word set up. Type the 3 words into the app and it will show you where your next location is. We recommend testing the app before the event so you can familiarise with how it works.


Who can Play?

Our Monopoly Run will consist of family teams. As a family you will all work together to visit the locations on the board. You will need to take a family photo in front or in view of the location to gain the points from that area. Photos during the event will need to be uploaded to our event Facebook group. You will receive a link to this group closer to the event date.


What do we Win?

Points will be tallied up at the end of the event and the team with the most points will win a Christmas hamper put together by Middlesbrough Scouts. There will be bonus points for the best Christmas themed team name.


What are the Chance Tasks?

The Chance Tasks are daily activities specifically made for the youth members of Scouting. Each day a new task will be set to be completed by the end of the day. The event team will then choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place each day based on how creative and imaginative the individuals have completed the tasks. At the end of the event the individuals in first place for each youth section (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers) will win a prize.

There will be 1 week long Chance Task for the entire team to take part in. The team that completes this task in the most creative way will win bonus points.


What are the Rules?

Our specific rules will be given in more detail once you have signed up to the event. We will email your team with extra details closer to the event start date. You are able to email, call or message our team if you have any specific queries.
